Look back:  Read back over Psalm 20 and remember the Lord’s help is the only way to victory, the Lord is predisposed to help his king, and as the king goes, so goes the people.

Look ahead: This coming Sunday, Pastor Michael will be starting a new sermon series on the church. Take time this week to pray for him as he prepares and for your family as we look forward to Sunday's worship service.

Sing: Visit the blog for this week's music. August's Scripture memory verse is 2 Corinthians 5:17. In September, our new memory verse will be John 16:33

Connect: Remember our weekly Zoom lessons are a great way for your kids to learn more and connect with other kids in the church!

Read: What is encouraging you in your walk with the Lord these days? The Bible should always take precedence, but there are lots of great, edifying books out there in addition. This summer I read The Pilgrim's Progress for the first time. I would encourage you to add reading a book to your regular routine! Some books would be great to read out loud with young children or read individually and discuss with older children.

Catechize: (New City Question 52)
Q:
What hope does everlasting life hold for us?
A: That we will live with and enjoy God forever in the new heaven and the new earth, where we will be forever freed from all sin in a renewed, restored creation.

FREE CONTENT ALERT: Although summer camp was cancelled this year, Lifeway has made some camp and post-camp content available for free. One thing that may interest you as parents are these free devotionals your older kids could do by themselves or that you could incorporate into family devotions.

A note on family discipleship: each of these weekly blog posts is intended to give you some structure for times of family worship and discipleship. I would love to talk to you if you have questions about that in the life of your family - to know how best to encourage, equip, and pray for you. I recently read Family Discipleship by Matt Chandler and Adam Griffin and found much of it be challenging, encouraging, and practically helpful. If I can serve your family by providing resources, praying in specific ways, or in some other way, please contact me!
