Look back: Look back over Luke 15:11-32 and remember our assumptions about God—shaped by culture and personal experience—often distort who He truly is, but through Jesus’ parables we see that God is a loving Father who actively seeks out lost people, calls them to repentance, and joyfully restores them, confronting both rebellious sin and self-righteousness alike.

FAMILY TALKING POINTS

STORY POINT

This is the main point to emphasize from today’s Bible story.

  • Preschool: John got people ready for Jesus.
  • Kids: John prepared the way for Jesus.

CHRIST CONNECTION

This is the big idea of how this week’s Bible story points to Jesus.

  • Babies & Toddlers: We can believe in Jesus, turn from our sins, be forgiven, and follow Him.
  • Younger Preschool: John’s message for the people is a message for us too. We can turn from our sins and follow Jesus.
  • Older Preschool: John’s message for the people is the same invitation for us: “Repent and be baptized.” We can turn from our sins and trust in Jesus as Savior and Lord.
  • Kids: John prepared the way for Jesus by calling people to repent of their sins. If we turn away from our sins and trust in Jesus, we will be saved.

BIG PICTURE QUESTION & ANSWER

This is an important biblical truth that your child will encounter each week of this unit.

  • Younger Preschool: Is Jesus God or a human? Jesus is fully God and fully human.
  • Older Preschool: Is Jesus God or a human? Jesus is fully God and fully human.
  • Kids: Is Jesus God or a human? Jesus is fully God and fully human.
