Look back: Look back over Psalm 62 and remember God alone is our unshakable rock, refuge, and hope, sustaining us with His steadfast love.

Look ahead: This coming Sunday, we will be in Psalm 63. Read the passage during the week with your family.

Ask: Do you ever think about your longing for God in terms of hunger and thirst? Why or why not?

Pray: Pray your desires and affections for the Lord would increase.

FAMILY TALKING POINTS

CHRIST CONNECTION

This is the big idea of how this week’s Bible story points to Jesus.

  • Babies & Toddlers: Jesus is the king who always obeyed God. When we trust in Jesus, He saves us from sin and death and gives us life with God forever.
  • Younger Preschool: Saul was a good king sometimes, but he disobeyed God. Jesus always obeyed God. Jesus saves us from our greatest enemies—sin and death. He gives us life with God forever.
  • Older Preschool: Saul was a strong king who won battles—but he disobeyed God. Jesus is the perfect King and always obeyed God. Jesus came to save us from our sin by dying on the cross and coming back to life. All who trust in Jesus receive life with God forever.
  • Kids: Saul defeated enemy armies for Israel but failed to obey God. Jesus defeated our greatest enemies––sin and death–– and always obeyed God. All who trust in Jesus will be saved and receive changed hearts that desire to obey God.
