Look back: Look back over Psalm 61 and remember God hears the cries of His overwhelmed children and draws them near by reminding them of His past faithfulness and calling them to trust His future promises.
Look ahead: This coming Sunday, we will be in Psalm 62. Read the passage during the week with your family.

FAMILY TALKING POINTS
CHRIST CONNECTION
This is the big idea of how this week’s Bible story points to Jesus.
- Babies & Toddlers: God chose Saul to be king. God sent Jesus to save us from our sins so we can follow God. God is our good and kind King.
- Younger Preschool: God’s people chose Saul to be king. When we sin, we choose ourselves instead of God. Jesus came to save us from our sins so we can follow God. God is our good and kind King.
- Older Preschool: God gave the Israelites a king, but He had a plan to send His Son, Jesus, to be King over the whole world. Jesus would be the perfect King. Jesus would bring peace and save people from sin.
- Kids: The Israelites rejected God as King and chose Saul to be their king. When we sin, we also reject God’s rule in our lives as King. Jesus, the King of kings, died for our sin and rose again so we could be forgiven.
