Look back:  Read back over 1 Samuel 8 and remember God’s people ignore his self-revelation, reject his authority, and conform to the thinking of the world around them by demanding a king like other nations.

Look ahead: This coming Sunday, Pastor Michael will be preaching from 1 Samuel 9:1-10:16. Read the passage several times during the week with your family.

Ask: Describe Saul. How did he come to meet Samuel and be anointed as king?

Pray: Adoration: Praise God, our true king. Confession: Confess any sin the passage brings to mind.  Thanksgiving: Give thanks for God's providence and care.  Supplication: Pray for your family to respond to God's word in joyful obedience.
