Look back:  Read back over Psalm 38 and remember David waits for God’s forgiveness of his sin to come through restoration and reconciliation.

Look ahead: This coming Sunday, Pastor Michael will be preaching from Psalm 39. Read the passage several times during the week with your family.

Ask: How might we use our words in foolish, ungodly ways? What kind of talk pleases God? Why is it good for people to recognize our lives on earth are fleeting and brief? What is our hope for forgiveness from our sins?

Pray: Adoration: Praise God that he is eternal, omnisicent, and omnipotent.  Confession: Confess ways you have sinned with your words. Thanksgiving: Thank God for the deliverance from transgressions we have in and through Jesus. Supplication: Pray for yourself and believers in your family to walk in holiness. Pray for the salvation of unsaved members of your family.

Sing: Visit the blog for this week's music. You can also find our music playlists on Spotify. We'll be singing our 2 newest songs, "The Night Song" and "Almost Home."

From Sunday School July 24:

CHRIST CONNECTION

This is the big idea of how this week’s Bible story points to Jesus.

  • Older Preschool: God hates sin because it dishonors Him and hurts us and other people. When we sin, God forgives us because Jesus took the punishment for our sins when He died on the cross. Jesus changes our heart so that we no longer want to sin.
  • Kids: When David repented of his sin, God forgave him, but sin always comes with a price. God spared David’s life, but David’s son died. When we sin, we deserve death. But we can receive God’s forgiveness because God sent His Son, Jesus, to pay the price for our sin.

BIG PICTURE QUESTION & ANSWER

This is an important biblical truth that your child will encounter each week of this unit.

  • Older Preschool: What is grace? Grace is when God gives us something good even when we do not deserve it.
  • Kids: What is grace? Grace is when God gives us something good even when we do not deserve it.
