Look back:  Read back over Psalm 37 and remember David encourages the congregation of the righteous who are facing the injustices of life.

Look ahead: This coming Sunday, Pastor Michael will be preaching from Psalm 38. Read the passage several times during the week with your family.

Ask: To what does David attribute his hardships in this psalm? How does verse 18 help us think through how we should deal with our own sin?

Pray: Adoration: Praise God for his salvation and forgiveness in Christ. Confession: Confess any sin Psalm 38 brings to mind. Thanksgiving: Give thanks for the truth that "if we confess our sins, God is faithful and justice to forgive our sins and cleanse us of all unrighteousness." Supplication: Pray for yourself and for your family to trust in and wait for the Lord in the midst of trials you may be experiencing.

From Sunday School July 17:

CHRIST CONNECTION

This is the big idea of how this week’s Bible story points to Jesus.

  • Older Preschool: God promised David that future kings of Israel would come from David’s family. God kept His promise. God sent His Son, Jesus, as part of David’s family. Jesus is our King. Jesus is alive, and He will be King over God’s people forever.
  • Kids: God promised David that future kings of Israel would come from David’s family, and David’s kingdom would last forever. God kept His promise by sending His Son, Jesus, as one of David’s descendants. Jesus is our King who will rule over God’s people forever.

BIG PICTURE QUESTION & ANSWER
