Look back:  Read back over Psalm 36 and remember the steadfast love of God sustains those who depend on Christ for righteousness.

Look ahead: This coming Sunday, Pastor Michael will be preaching from Psalm 37. Read the passage several times during the week with your family.

Ask: Why should we not fret or be envious of evildoers? How does verse 11 relate to Matthew 5:5? How does Jesus' righteousness for the believer encourage you?

Pray: Adoration: Praise God for his sovereignty, justice, generosity, and wisdom. Confession: Confess any sin Psalm 36 brings to mind (consider whether you are prone to envy wrondoers, to sinful anger, or not trusting the Lord to do what is right). Thanksgiving: Give thanks for the promise of God's ultimate justice and vindication for his people who are redeemed through Jesus. Supplication: Pray for yourself and for your family to trust in and wait for the Lord in the midst of trials you may be experiencing.

From Sunday School July 10:

CHRIST CONNECTION

This is the big idea of how this week’s Bible story points to Jesus.

  • Older Preschool: The men in Israel’s army were afraid of Goliath, but God gave David power to beat Goliath. David reminds us of Jesus. Jesus came to save us from our biggest enemies: sin and death. Jesus is the hero who saves us so we can live with Him forever.
  • Kids: The Israelites were not strong enough to fight Goliath, the mighty Philistine warrior, on their own. God gave David power to defeat Goliath. David reminds us of Jesus, who came to save us from our greatest enemies: sin and death. Jesus, the ultimate hero, saves us from our sin and gives us eternal life.

BIG PICTURE QUESTION & ANSWER

This is an important biblical truth that your child will encounter each week of this unit.

  • Older Preschool: What is grace? Grace is when God gives us something good even when we do not deserve it.
  • Kids: What is grace? Grace is when God gives us something good even when we do not deserve it.
