"In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps."
- Proverbs 16:9

On Wednesday nights, singing memory verse songs is a weekly occurrence.  We recently learned Proverbs 16:9, which is a good reminder that we can make plans, but God is the One able to bring them about.  With that said, here are some things we're planning to do, Lord willing, in the coming year in the children's ministry:

Every week:

We will study the Bible, sing, pray, and have activities and games that complement what we're learning on Sundays and Wednesdays.  Central to this are the Gospel Project for Kids and Kids on Mission.

Play Days:

New this year, we're opening up the children's building 4 times in the year for parents to attend with their children and play!  Games, activities, snacks, and fellowship for all ages and families.  Days and times will vary.

Parents' Night Out:

New also this year, we are planning 4 nights for mom and dad to go on a date while kids are cared for in the children's building.  Expect a couple of hours on a Friday night.

Trunk or Treat:

Trunk or Treat has become our staple fall church/community event where we can have fun with our friends, neighbors, and church family.

Operation Christmas Child:

Kids and families are encouraged all year long to bring specific items for shoeboxes.  Some items are coming directly VBS crafts.  Look out for info about box collection and packing parties.

Volunteer Appreciation:

Each November, we have a lunch to say thank you to our many volunteers.

Christmas Breakfast:

Usually a week or two before Christmas, we take off of elementary Sunday School one Sunday in December to have breakfast and Christmas-themed activities and games together.

Christmas Play:

Stay tuned for more information about a student-led Christmas play starring kids in the children's ministry!

Crafts and Creations:

Dates TBD, but be on the lookout for the next installment of Crafts and Creations, led by Jessica Maxwell.  These have been great opportunities for families to get together for a fun day of crafts with take-home resources as well.

ChurchFest:

Who will find the most eggs?  Who will eat the most BBQ? Who will be able to take down the staff volleyball team?  Find out the answers to these important questions in spring 2020.  The answer to the last question so far is "no one."

VBS:

Our single largest children's ministry event and outreach - 4 days of Bible study, games, crafts, missions, music and more.  Each June we meet dozens of children and families in our community and get to share the gospel with them all week long.

CentriKid Camp:

3-day adventure to Shocco Springs in Talladega for 3rd-5th graders as summer winds down.  Camp includes worship, Bible study, and lots of outdoor recreation.

Pool Party:

The annual pool party at UA marks the end of summer and beginning of the school year and is usually held on the last Sunday before school starts, often on the same day we promote children to the next grade level.

Thanks for being a part of the children's ministry!
